Deep tissue at our Portsmouth studio
Pressure that reaches the deeper layers.
Deep tissue massage uses slow, deliberate strokes and sustained pressure to work through the superficial muscle layers and reach the underlying tissue. That’s where chronic tension lives, the tight bands and knots that build from stress, repetitive movement, long hours at a desk, or years of holding patterns your body has quietly settled into.
It’s not about intensity for its own sake. It’s about the right kind of pressure, applied with intention, in exactly the places your body needs it. The pace is slower than a relaxation massage, and the focus is narrower, working methodically through the areas that have been gripping for too long.
Your deep tissue session, from start to finish.
We talk first
Before any work begins, your therapist will check in about where you’re holding tension, what your body has been through lately, and what you’re hoping to feel when you leave. This shapes the whole session. Nothing is guesswork.
Pressure adjusts to you
Deep tissue isn’t one setting. Your therapist will start with a warm-up to prepare the tissue, then work progressively into the deeper layers. Pressure is calibrated as we go. Your feedback matters, and you can always ask for more or less.
Techniques blend naturally
You stay warm and draped
You undress to your comfort level and are draped with a sheet throughout. Only the area being worked is uncovered. The table is heated, the room is quiet, and there’s no rush. You have the full session to yourself.
How you’ll feel after
Most guests feel a pleasant heaviness and deep ease immediately after. Some areas may feel tender for a day or two as the tissue processes the work. This is normal and usually fades quickly, leaving lasting relief in its place.
